**Join our Speech Pathology team as an Allied Health Assistant today**

The focus of Speech Pathology services at Flinders Medical Centre (FMC) is to care for hospital patients who have communication or swallowing difficulties.

**About the role**:
Reporting to the Speech Pathology Manager, in this role you will provide assistance and support to the Speech Pathology team in the delivery of allied health services to patients/clients of the inpatient units and outpatient services of SALHN, under the supervision of an allied health professional.

Duties for the role will include:

- Maintaining equipment required for speech pathology and audiology services,
- Assist in manufacturing, repairing and maintaining clinical and patient equipment and associated records,
- Contributing to the development of an integrated team approach and culture which is highly responsive to the needs of our consumers,
- Supporting and encouraging patient independence in use of augmentative and alternative communication and hearing devices,
- Participating and engaging in workplace health and safety procedures.

**About you**:

- Certificate 4 in Allied Health Assistance, or equivalent,
- Clear aptitude for working in a healthcare setting and with people from a variety of cultural and linguistically diverse backgrounds,
- Experience working in a service environment with a diverse range of people,
- Ability to work under general direction and direct or remote supervision from Allied Health Professionals,
- High level communication and interpersonal skills.
