**About Us**:
- We provide legal policy and reform expertise to the Attorney-General to deliver on their civil and criminal law policy responsibilities and the legislative reform program
- We work collaboratively with key entities across the justice system and the department to ensure policy reform is strategic, relevant, holistic and people-centred
- We are responsible for developing policy and legislative reform in a broad range of areas, including human rights and equal opportunity law, civil evidence and procedure, negligence, open courts, property, succession law, worker screening, guardianship and administration law, elder abuse and policy relating to supported decision-making. We are also responsible for bail, summary crime, counter-terrorism, family violence, offence reform (including sexual offences), sentencing, criminal procedure (e.g. committal and appeal processes), jury directions and evidence.
**About the Role**:
The Legal Policy Officer is responsible for contributing to the co-ordination, research, development, implementation, review and reform of policy and legislation across the Attorney-General's portfolio. You will be joining an inclusive and supportive group and will be provided with a range of training and development opportunities.
**About You**:
- have knowledge of and/or experience in legal policy and/or relevant legal practice
- be resilient, flexible and adaptable to changing priorities
- be a strong communicator, both in writing and orally
- have the ability to understand and take into account the priorities of various groups and individuals when developing options for responding to policy problems, and
- have strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Qualifications/Requirements:_
- A relevant tertiary qualification in Law is highly desirable.
