Zurich’s Claims business in Australia & New Zealand works with companies of all sizes and across all segments including Retail Life, Group Life and General Insurance.

In this role, you will be responsible for assessing and managing a portfolio of Retail Income Protection, Trauma, and Total & Permanent Disability (TPD) claims, with opportunities to broaden your expertise into other areas of Life Insurance claims such as Terminal Illness.

You will oversee the entire claims process, including reviewing policies to determine the type and validity of cover, date of risk commencement, quantum of insured benefit, and claim eligibility. You will develop tailored management strategies for each claim, and engage and instruct external medical, legal, vocational, and forensic vendors to act on Zurich’s behalf.

A continuous improvement mindset is key to success in this role. You’ll identify and implement enhancements to systems, processes, and procedures, helping the team to work more efficiently and effectively. In addition, you’ll play a vital part in uplifting the capability of our claim’s administrators, sharing your knowledge and supporting their development throughout the claims management process.

- Experienced in managing all stages of claims, including front-end claims management, with a focus on retail income protection.
- Ability to assess complex information, interpret policy terms, and make fair, consistent decisions on claim outcomes.
- High-level of attention to detail, ensuring accuracy when reviewing documents, medical reports, and policy information to avoid errors and ensure compliance.
- Strong knowledge of medical terminology, or training in an allied health or medical-related field.
- Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to resolve complicated cases, overcome obstacles, and find practical solutions to support both customers and the business.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Able to effectively communicate with claimants, medical professionals, and internal stakeholders, often explaining sensitive or complex information in a clear, empathetic way.
- Exceptional organisational and time management skills. Manage multiple claims and deadlines efficiently, ensuring timely progression and resolution of cases while maintaining a high standard of service.
- Demonstrates a proactive approach and a commitment to continuous improvement.
