About the teamLegal Aid Queensland's First Advice Contact Team provides free legal advice across criminal, civil and family law to more than 48,000 vulnerable and disadvantaged people each year. Services are provided over the phone or face-to-face at one of our 14 offices. The Prison Advice Service (PAS) provides this service at many correctional centres around the state or via video conference.
About the RoleWe are recruiting for a Prison Support Officer to work with our Prison Advice Services team. In this diverse and challenging role you will provide information from prisoners at courts, prisons and via videoconference. Occasionally you may be required to interview clients face to face. You will be responsible for liaising with stakeholders to coordinate prison advice services. This role is ideally suited to a person who has an interest in the justice system with good administrative skills and is looking for a rewarding career.

**Some of the duties of this role include**:

- Scheduling video conferences prisons for internal and external lawyers.
- Managing incoming calls from lawyers and prison staff regarding video conference bookings.
- Undertaking administrative tasks for the team - including litigation support, maintaining electronic diaries, rosters, visit lists and records management.
- Liaising with correctional officers to coordinate the prison advice service at duty lawyer sessions.
- Providing information to prisoners via video conference or face to face at prisons
- Providing referrals to clients.

Ideally you will have legal administrative experience, the ability to prepare legal documents and a knowledge of court procedures.
