Technician

**THE ROLE**

An exciting opportunity for a Technician has become available at Zenith: A leading commercial furniture design, manufacturing and supply company. The role of Technician plays a critical role within our New Product Design Team, assisting with the transformation of ideas into resolved furniture ready for production.

The applicant should be comfortable working across multiple projects simultaneously at varying stages of the development process.

**KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES/DUTIES**

Reporting to the Lead Technician at Zenith’s Sandringham site, the key accountability is to lead and oversee the creation of all relevant product mock-ups and prototypes from the New Product and Tech Support teams. The successful applicant must be interested in the iterative development process. This entails having the ability to work in an experimental capacity, including working alongside the projects leads to investigate and problem solve complex design related problems and work collaboratively towards solutions.

Duties will include:

- The manual assembly of prototyping new product.
- Performance testing and experimental problem solving under the guidance of the Design Lead and Engineering Lead.
- Sourcing, ordering and following up on delivery of any specialty tools, hardware and parts to ensure project timelines are met.
- Ensure all parts have been correctly manufactured.
- The applicant must demonstrate the ability to document and communicate the status of a project in ways that can add value to the development process.
- Maintaining the Research & Design workshop, including maintenance and replacement of equipment and ensuring all safety regulations are followed.
- Ensuring that the workshop is kept in a clean and orderly manner.
- Working alongside several team members, simultaneously and collaboratively.
- Occasional travel to Zenith showrooms and client presentations as needed.
- Fulfill custom and ad hoc projects as required.

**SKILLS REQUIRED**
- Ability to work in a team environment, under the direction of the project lead and Lead Technician to achieve the team objectives.
- Experience with varying manufacturing processes, preferably relating to commercial furniture or similar products.
- Proficient skill in hand tools, power tools and measuring equipment, and a willingness to learn more.
- General experience relating to product assembly techniques.
- Understanding of construction and furniture related hardware.
- Ability to perform testing under the direction of the lead engineer.
- Strong communication and organisational skills, with the ability and willingness to share knowledge with other team members.
- Ability to understand and discuss engineering solutions and report project status via Microsoft Teams.
- Self-starter with the ability to work independently or in a team to achieve the desired product outcome.
- Availability to occasionally travel and represent the company from the perspective of technical assistance.
- License to operate a forklift is desirable but not critical.
- Maintaining and managing a high functioning and safe workshop space.
- Ability to be supported, guided, and mentored by the Lead Technician, who will provide training with equipment, encouragement, assistance and experience-based guidance.
