**About the role**
**Family and Child Connect (FaCC)** is a Queensland Government funded initiative aimed at ensuring vulnerable families and children have access to high-quality services at the right time to help them to maintain the family unit. **Family and Child Connect** is a community-based intake and referral service, established across Queensland to support families who are at risk of entering or re-entering the child protection system and to help families to care for and protect their children at home.
As a **Case Worker** with FaCC, you will undertake an initial assessment of family strengths and needs, determine appropriate support options to help them achieve their goals, and follow up with services to ensure successful engagement. Typically, we engage with families on a short-term basis of up to 6 weeks.
**Duties**
- Conduct initial assessments of a family’s strengths and needs identifying areas of concern and goals.
- Identify and make appropriate referrals based on identified worries and goals.
- Provide information and advice to families based on their individual circumstances.
- Assess safety and manage child protection risks for families.
- Liaise with key stakeholders in the community.
- Keep accurate and timely documentation of all client interactions and related tasks.

**Skills and Experience**
As an experienced Case Worker / Child & Family Practitioner you will have a relevant tertiary degree in Social Work, Psychology, Human Services or similar and:
- A minimum of 12 months case work or case management experience working with at risk children, young people and/or families in a child protection focused role, including experience undertaking comprehensive assessments is essential.
- Excellent understanding of child protection issues and client vulnerabilities such as drug and alcohol use, domestic violence, mental health issues, and the impact of trauma and the effect on child behaviour and development, along with experience identifying and addressing child protection concerns.
- An understanding of the needs of diverse communities such as Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander, culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) and LGBTIQA+ communities.
- Strong organisation skills, time management skills, IT skills and ability to use technology in service delivery.
- Ability to multi-task and prioritise in a fast-paced environment, ever changing environment.
- Ability to work unsupervised and remotely.
- High level of professional accountability and integrity and a belief that every parent has potential.
