**Eligibility**
- To be eligible for employment with the Department of Health and Aged Care

**Division Responsibilities**
The Cancer, Hearing and Chronic Conditions Division is responsible for:
- Being the central coordination point for cancer matters in the department and
managing cancer screening programs and services including producing evidence
- based policy and delivering best practice cancer care initiatives
- The management of the National Cancer Screening Register (NCSR) through our
service provider including the transition of the National Bowel Cancer Screening
Register
- Administering the Australian Government Hearing Services Program (program) and
providing policy advice on hearing health
- Maintaining a range of initiatives and programs to support prevention, treatment
and management of chronic conditions and fund clinical research into chronic
conditions.
**Branch Responsibilities**
The Hearing Services and Chronic Conditions Branch supports eligible Australians with
hearing loss and chronic conditions. Some of the key roles of the branch include
administering the program and developing and providing advice on hearing health. In
addition, the branch also tackles chronic conditions at a national level through policy
development and a range of initiatives and programs to support prevention, treatment and
management. The branch also funds quality clinical research into chronic conditions through
the National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC) and the Medical Research
Future Fund.
**Section Responsibilities**
The Voucher Operations Section is responsible for:
- Managing the Hearing Services Online (HSO) Portal and website and monitoring
outages
- Managing hearing service provider accreditation and ongoing contractual
arrangements
- Responding to a high volume of client enquiries through the contact centre
- Resolving hearing service provider complaints
- Providing advice to hearing service providers on the hearing service provider
compliance support framework
- Providing clinical audiological advice across the branch and to external stakeholders.
- Managing manufacturer registration and arrangements under the Deed of Standing
Offer as well as managing and the relationships with device suppliers
- Managing relationships with:
- Services Australia for the Centrelink Confirmation eServices (CCeS) and
Claims Payment Process***
- Australian Taxation Office for the Government Payments Program***
- National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) and Department of Veterans
Affairs (DVA) for client eligibility and Provisional Access to Medical Treatment
(PAMT) process.***
**Key Responsibilities**
- Provide high level clinical expertise, within a legislative and contractual framework,
on all aspects of the program and broader hearing health matters to inform
operational program delivery activities, policy development, program reform and/or
compliance activities
- Provide clinical assessments and advice to inform compliance activities
- Provide clinical input to complex enquiries and complaints from stakeholders
- As the manager of a team, implement work plans, manage resources, set work area
priorities, conduct quality assurance activities, oversee performance, and build the
capability of your staff
- Manage the preparation of high-level correspondence regarding complex and
sensitive clinical, policy and program issues
- Manage the preparation of ministerial correspondences, ministerial briefs and
information requests related to the Hearing Services Program
