**Purpose of Position**:
Are you a dynamic individual with a passion for sales and customer service? Harbour Lane Furniture & Bedding is looking for an enthusiastic Sales Assistant to join our team. You’ll play a crucial role in converting "Just Looking" visitors into "Happily Buying" customers. As the first point of contact, your approach will be vital in driving sales and ensuring repeat business through exceptional customer experiences.
**Key Responsibilities**:
- **Engage Customers**: Greet and approach customers promptly, assist in their purchasing decisions, and build lasting rapport.
- **Understand Needs**: Identify customer requirements to recommend suitable products effectively.
- **Product Knowledge**: Stay updated on product features, benefits, and availability to provide accurate information to customers.
- **Maintain Standards**: Ensure the store is safe, hygienic, and visually appealing at all times.
- **Achieve Targets**: Meet and exceed defined sales targets and KPIs consistently.
- **Resolve Issues**: Handle customer complaints efficiently, providing satisfactory resolutions.
- **Merchandising**: Assist in setting up and maintaining displays, ensuring products are presented attractively.
- **Sales Support**: Process transactions accurately, assist with inventory management, and participate in stocktakes.
- **Team Collaboration**: Work closely with the team to ensure a seamless and enjoyable shopping experience for customers.
- Respond to customer calls promptly.
- Understand customer needs and expectations.
- Fulfil customer commitments and contractual obligations in accordance with company polices.
- Escalate unresolved customer issues promptly.
- Gauge feedback from customers daily to improve store best practices and report trends to managers in 1:1 meetings.
**Requirements**:
- Minimum 2 years of experience in sales, retail, and customer service.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Eagerness to learn with provided on-the-job training.
- Punctuality and a strong work ethic.
- Availability to work on weekends and three weekdays (you will have two weekdays off).
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Physical capability to move furniture within the store premises.
**Experience**:
- Working towards sales targets and KPIs: 2 years (required)
- Sales: Minimum 2 years (required)
- Customer service: 2 years (required)
