Our Federal Government client is seeking to engage a Policy Officer on a Non on-going 6 months contract with possible extension

**About the Role**:
The officer will play a key role in developing and implementing policy to support the distribution of the medical workforce in regional, rural and remote Australia.

**Key Responsibilities**

APS 5 Policy Officer responsibilities may include:

- Undertake research and analysis, including data analysis, to inform, develop and support evidence-based policy
- Undertake or contribute to moderately complex internal projects under direction
- Provide administrative and secretariat support, including assisting with the coordination of regular stakeholder meetings
- Assist in the preparation of briefing materials, correspondence, reports, and other products for the Minister, departmental executives, and for industry stakeholders
- Build and sustain positive and productive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders
- Take responsibility for managing own performance and actively contribute to achieving the goals of the section.

APS 4 Policy Officer responsibilities may include:

- Assist with research and analysis to support policy development,
- Assisting to compile, analyse and report on a range of data,
- Communicating technical information to non-technical audiences,
- Assist in the preparation of Ministerial and Executive correspondence, briefings and reports,
- Assist in the preparation for meetings with internal and external stakeholders, and
- Assist in developing policy and preparing written advice to Government
- Manage specific departmental inboxes and correspondence channels while coordinating timely and effective responses to questions and queries.
- Build and sustain positive and productive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders
- Take responsibility for managing own performance and actively contribute to achieving the goals of the section.

**Key Capabilities**
- Experience in briefing and policy development and/or government program/project implementation
- Well-developed quantitative research and analytical skills, strategic thinking and problem-solving skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills. The ability to confidently present messages in a clear, concise and articulate manner
- The ability to identify broader factors, trends and influences that may impact outcomes/objectives
- Strong adaptability, initiative, sound judgement and decision-making capabilities
- The ability to develop and maintain productive, trusted relationships and work collaboratively and negotiate with internal and external stakeholders
- Attention to detail
- Strong organisational skills
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a small team to deliver results
- Organisational and time management skills, including the ability to prioritise workloads and meet deadlines.
