About the role
We are seeking a passionate and proactive MET Facilitator - Family Engagement to join our Mission Enhancement Team. This crucial role is responsible for developing, supporting, and promoting models of ministry that enrich family life and encourage the active engagement of families within our parishes and the wider local Church. This role will support the implementation of Bishop Vincent’s vision and the Diocesan Pastoral Plan by working to promote and support family life and engagement with the Church.
The Second Vatican Council proclaimed that the family is “the first and vital cell of society.” It is the fundamental school of social living, as a community of love. The MET Facilitator - Family Engagement will work together with parishes and ecclesial communities to promote, protect, and enhance family life, assisting them to build models of family ministry that meet the needs of each community. They will seek to build networks of support for families in all their diverse structures and circumstances, throughout Western Sydney and the Blue Mountains.
The Mission Enhancement Team (MET) is comprised of dedicated individuals with expertise in various areas of ministry, from youth and adult faith formation to prayer and worship, peace and justice, marriage and natural fertility support, parish leadership, and faith education in public schools. We work in collaboration with the community and one another to meet the existing and emerging needs of the people of God throughout Western Sydney and the Blue Mountains.

Key Accountabilities:
To develop and support models of ministry that support families in all their diverse structures and circumstances and promote the engagement of families in the life of the local Church.
- Identify opportunities to accompany families, promoting family life and integral human development.
- Plan, develop, and deliver models of support that enrich family life and the wider community.
- Promote the engagement of families in the life of the parish and diocesan community.
- Promote an integral Catholic understanding of family as the domestic church and the fundamental unit of society.
- Identify emerging needs in parishes and other communities and co-develop models of ministry to meet these needs.
- Identify and develop a range of accessible resources to enrich faith life and practice for families from diverse social, cultural, and linguistic backgrounds.
- Collaborate with Clergy, parish communities, Diocesan agencies, and the wider community to promote and deliver these services.
- Liaise with external providers to meet the needs of the diocese and local church communities.
- Coordinate, collate, and respond to feedback from key stakeholders.
- Represent the Diocese of Parramatta in interagency meetings as required.
About you
- Possess a strong ability to quickly understand and navigate complex processes and protocols within a large organisational structure like the Diocese.

Qualifications, Licences, and Competencies:
- Relevant studies or equivalent experience in Catholic theology, ministry, or spirituality.
- A current, verified Working with Children Check or willing to obtain one
- A current NSW Driver’s Licence.
Skills and Experience:
- A minimum of three years of relevant experience in a comparable role (e.g., in education, ministry, planning, or community development).
- A demonstrated understanding of and strong commitment to the mission and core teachings of the Catholic Church.
- Passion for life in faith, especially in the area of family life and human flourishing.
- Highly proficient in the use of information technology and innovative ways of sharing faith.
- Project management and strategic planning skills.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Professional manner and presentation.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work well with others.
- Willingness to deepen your own formation.
- Ability to operate with absolute discretion and to maintain confidentiality.
- Ability to take initiative and work with limited supervision.
- Excellent time management and demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks.
- Willingness to work some evenings and weekends as necessary.
