As a Support Worker at Second Home, your primary responsibility is to provide support to people with disabilities during their holiday, ensuring that their needs are met and that they have a positive and enjoyable experience.

To be successful in this role, you will need to have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, as well as a compassionate and patient approach. You should be able to work effectively as part of a team and have a strong commitment to promoting the rights and independence of people with disabilities.

Experience in the disability sector or a related field is desirable, but not essential. Second Home will provide training and support to help you develop the skills and knowledge needed to carry out your role effectively.

**As a Support Worker at Second Home, your key accountability areas include**:

- Personal Hygiene Assistance: You will be responsible for assisting guests with personal hygiene tasks such as washing hands, bathing or showering, brushing teeth, getting dressed, and other tasks as needed.
- Mobility Support: You will assist guests with mobility tasks, such as using mobility equipment like wheelchairs, walking sticks, walking frames, etc., navigating ramps and stairs, and using mobility aids such as splints and braces.
- Transportation: You may assist guests with transportation needs, such as escorting them on local trips to supermarkets, cafes, and restaurants, or performing shopping tasks on their behalf.
- Shopping Tasks: You will assist guests with shopping tasks, including escorted and unescorted shopping trips.
- Housekeeping Tasks: You will be responsible for maintaining a safe and clean environment for guests and staff by performing housekeeping tasks such as meal preparation, cooking and cleaning up, vacuuming, mopping and sweeping, making beds and replacing bedding, and notifying the house manager of any required maintenance.
- Occupational Health and Safety: You will take responsibility for the Occupational Health and Safety of yourself, other team members, contractors, and visitors.
- Coordination of social activities

During their stay, guests choose from a range of in-house and community-based activities. Second Home support workers assist guests to participate in their chosen activities. - Workplace Safety and health

Timely reporting of any Occupational Health and Safety Incidents

Comply so far as reasonably practicable with Second Home WHS policies / procedures as well as reasonable instructions from Second Home Management

**Qualifications / Experience**:
A Certificate level in Disability, Aged Care, Child Care, or equivalent qualification or willingness to obtain

**Special Requirements**:
Second Home may require you to carry out other duties as directed that are commensurate with the skills and competencies of the classification level

Driver’s license and access to a vehicle

National Police Clearance Certificate or willingness to allow Second Home permission to seek a National Police Clearance Certificate

Overall, your role as a Support Worker at Second Home is to ensure that guests with disabilities have a safe, comfortable, and enjoyable holiday experience by providing them with the support they need to participate in activities, maintain personal hygiene, and navigate their environment.

**Salary**: $30.00 - $35.00 per hour
