**Who we are**
The Finance Division supports the department to be efficient, effective and financially sustainable through our business partnerships. The division provides financial and management advice and supports the department, the offices of the Ministers and Assistant Ministers and to industry stakeholders. The division delivers on business objectives through the provision of high-quality customer service, advice and support and a consistent approach to business, with consideration to the Government's tight fiscal environment, its significant reform agenda and the Department's imperative to maintain financial sustainability.

The Financial Management Branch is part of Finance Division within Enabling Services Group, and is responsible for: financial reporting; internal budgeting and executive reporting; management reporting and divisional finance support, as well as maintaining our financial and business systems. We provide high-quality client service, financial advice, and support to help the Department achieve its goals.

**The Job**
We are looking for highly motivated and high performing Finance Business Partners who will help DCCEEW’s leaders make well-informed decisions. You will have strong problem solving and analytical skills; the ability to respond in a positive and flexible manner to change, and to think creatively to support and solve business challenges will be looked upon favourably.

Your role as an APS 5 Finance Business Partner in the Financial Management Branch includes:

- assisting in developing and maintaining divisional budgets, including operational expenditure, revenue and staffing level components
- working with line areas to forecast expenses and revenue, accurately reflecting changes to planned business operations
- undertaking month end processes including commitment reporting, accruals, and reconciliations
- assisting in the delivery of accurate and on time month end reporting, including analysis and commentary that is fit for purpose and suited to the audience
- providing advice and support to clients on a range of financial matters.

**Knowledge and experience**
We are looking for experienced finance professionals who possess:

- demonstrated introductory understanding of Commonwealth financial compliance and legislative frameworks
- demonstrated ability to analyse, report, advise and communicate financial information specific to role

**Skills and capabilities**
- Well-developed communication, interpersonal and financial skills with an emphasis on working collaboratively.
- An ability to interpret and communicate complex financial matters simply to a range of stakeholders.
- A capacity to be flexible, creative and manage multiple deadlines, sometimes under pressure.
- Well-developed initiative and strong problem-solving skills, with an ability to innovate and think laterally.
- An ability to assess and evaluate financial management strategies, initiatives, projects, policies and procedures.
