What is the role?

Applications are sought from suitably qualified applicants wishing to be considered for the role of Team Leaders - Cyber Security & Risk Branch

The AFP is seeking multiple Band 8 positions within the following cyber security teams:
Vulnerability Management and Cyber Threat Intelligence. Responsible for identifying vulnerabilities, recommending rectification actions, conducting cyber threat intelligence collection, and reporting.
Security Operations and Hunt. Responsible for monitoring and reporting security events and configuring security controls to maintain a secure network.
Incident Response and System Forensics. Responsible for responding to and investigating security events, identifying security controls, conducting forensic artefact collection and malware reverse engineering.
Governance, Compliance and Report Writing. Responsible for auditing AFP systems, ensuring risk controls are implemented and maintaining standard operating procedures, playbooks, and technical reports.
Educator and Staff Awareness. Responsible for developing and delivering staff awareness and ICT administrator training programs.
Technical Design and Security Architects. Responsible for advising and designing risk based secure system diagrams and overview documents.
Cyber Assurance - Responsible for providing detailed cyber security advice to business areas and senior management concerning the requirements for achieving and maintaining a secure cyber posture at the AFP

What will you do?

Operational Science and Technology (OS&T) is the key enabling AFP Command that provides scientific and technological solutions to combat a crime and support operational members through innovative solutions that impact upon the criminal environment. The Cyber Security & Risk Branch within OS&T is responsible for:
Monitoring AFP networks using a comprehensive suite of enterprise tools:
Responding to security breaches and resolving security incidents;
Identifying, monitoring, and resolving security vulnerabilities;
Analysing, developing, and reporting on technical and business cyber threat intelligence;
Enabling risk management through developing and implementing risk plans and controls;
Assessing systems and technologies to provide advice on system architecture and design;
Developing security frameworks and policies based on senior management direction;
Educating all staff on cyber security requirements and good practices;
Ensuring appropriate procedures are established for handling and protectively marking information;
Managing access to information;
Ensuring the AFP IT systems are protected against unauthorised access or compromise; and
Establishing a positive security culture where ‘Cyber Security is everyone’s responsibility’.
