Forensicare is the statutory agency responsible for the provision of adult forensic mental health services across Victoria.

We address the needs of people experiencing mental health issues, the mental health sector, the justice sector and the general community. These services are delivered through inpatient services at Thomas Embling Hospital, community services through the Community Forensic Mental Health Service and prison-based services at several locations. This position will be based at Prison Directorate Executives Office, and will be required to work across all Forensicare Prison sites.

**About the Role**:

- The MHTSS Program Lead: reports to the Executive Director (Prisons) and is responsible for ensuring operational outcomes in relation to financial and human resource management, operational targets, and key performance indicators
- They will provide clinical leadership and quality oversight within the Forensicare model of care to support transition of care into, across, between, and out of Prison Services in collaboration with the Prisons leadership team

**Duties**:

- Contribute to the training and development for Forensicare staff, GEO and Corrections Victoria Prison and Clinical staff, Correct Care Australasia staff and Alliance Partners.
- Demonstrate leadership in clinical and policy issues related to transition and post release support for patients.
- Assist in the development, implementation, and evaluation of the MHTSS roles, ensuring strong links and contribution to the organisation’s Corporate Strategic Plan.
- Establish and maintain strong stakeholder relationships to drive the MHTSS through liaison with key internal and external stakeholders, including the AMH&WS and designated health services, Forensicare Clinical Specialists, the Office of Chief Psychiatrist (OCP), Ambulance Victoria, Victoria Police, Justice Health, Custodial Operations, and Sentence Management Division
- Provide oversight of pre and post release assertive linkage as part of a patient’s re-integration into the community
- Develop and implement strategies which promote flexibility within systems of service delivery.
- Implement proactive strategies to identify opportunities and challenges which assist the MHTSS in managing change
- Participate in service wide quality improvement activities, including the collection and reporting of data.

**About You**:

- Approved qualification in nursing, social work or occupational therapy and current registration with AHPRA (Australian Health Practitioner Regulations Agency) where relevant.
- Social Workers must be eligible for membership with the AASW (Australian Association of Social Workers).
- Psychology: Masters or doctoral level qualifications in clinical psychology or doctoral level qualifications in forensic psychology, and current unrestricted registration with AHPRA as a Psychologist.
- A minimum of 5 years post qualification experience within mental health, preferably recent experience in community mental health setting or a demonstration of signficant and extensive experience working within a secondary/tertiary mental health service.
- Thorough understanding and demonstrated commitment to mental health consumer Recovery, including the modelling and leading of Recovery focused initiatives.
- Commitment to and demonstrated ability in working collaboratively and effectively with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders.
- Experience and competency in planning, implementing, and evaluating complex case management interventions with people with serious mental illnesses.
- Knowledge of community based resources, including drug and alcohol and accommodation services.
- Demonstrated ability to provide leadership in a multi-disciplinary team to promote high standards of clinical practice. This includes the supervision, support, and training of staff.
- Demonstrated commitment to modelling the organisation’s mission, vision, and values in all aspects of interaction with colleagues, patients, and external stakeholders.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including well developed problem solving and conflict resolution skills.
- Demonstrated commitment to participating in ongoing professional development of self and others

**What you need**:
Nursing
- Postgraduate qualification in Mental Health Nursing or equivalent.
- Registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulations Agency (AHPRA).

Occupational Therapy
- Approved degree in Occupational Therapy recognised for membership of Occupational Therapy Australia - Australian Association of
