**The Role**
Working autonomously, you will have responsibility for the legal / commercial function across the whole of APAC, primarily focussed on Oceania and SE Asia and drawing on global internal and local external resources for needed support.
Core responsibilities of the role include:
- Drafting, reviewing, advising on, and, where necessary, negotiating commercial agreements including:
- Customer contracts, change orders, statements of work and escrow agreements;
- Supplier subcontracts and purchase orders;
- Partnering / teaming agreements, non-disclosure agreements;
- Bank guarantees, parent company guarantees and intercompany agreements; and
- Everything contractual / legal / commercial in nature that impacts the business across the APAC region.
- Identification of risks and issues that require compliance management;
- Working with the Sales team to provide legal / commercial review and advice for all proposals, bids, and customer purchase orders;
- Working with the Delivery and Operations team provide guidance and direction on management of legal / commercial risks and issues in projects;
- Reviewing new national and international laws, regulations and directives impacting on business interests and advising senior management as appropriate;
- Sourcing support from Kapsch’s Global Legal team, and procuring local external legal support as appropriate to effectively manage own workload; and
- Forecasting and managing Kapsch’s overall legal expenditure and ensuring the department operates within allocated budgets.
**You**
You are an autonomous, high performing individual with ten or more years’ experience in commercial management, ideally within an engineering, automation, construction, or technology (systems) environment, and tertiary qualifications in business or law.
You have exposure across sales, project delivery, and maintenance with the ability to manage external legal personnel and source input from a global legal team. You are a hands-on, self-starter with a pragmatic commercial mindset who is looking for a role to support the continuing growth of the business across the Asia Pacific region.
