**Job Description**:
We are looking for a passionate, thoughtful and ambitious junior designer to join our team and ready to take the first step in their career. This is ideal for someone who is new or starting out in the world of product design.

As a digital product designer you will join an agile team of problem solvers, helping to concept, design and build world class digital products and experiences. You will be mentored and work closely with fellow designers, product managers, technical teams, business stakeholders and our customers, to help define, document and deliver intuitive, compelling and meaningful experiences across web, native apps, and other distribution channels.

You will report to the Lead Product Designer and will contribute to a number of different work streams aligned to your skill set and be given the opportunity to advance your design abilities across a range of disciplines.

**Key responsibilities**

As a junior member of the team you will have an opportunity to grow your design skills, collaborating and learning from the wider design and product teams. You will
- Collaborate and seek input from your fellow designers, product managers, technical and design research teams to help drive the best end user outcomes
- Support the product, technology and editorial teams on breaking and evolving news events
- Understand and balance customer problems with business goals and technical constraints
- Generate ideas and early concepts to explore product opportunities and solve problems and assist in designing solutions across our product experience
- Participate in and contribute to internal workshops, design reviews and collaboration sessions
- Contribute to our design system by working closely with designers and engineers to create and evolve patterns to be used across all our products
- Contribute to team culture through design reviews, brown bag sessions and team meet-ups
- Participate in and take an active role in contributing to our design culture, and improving practice within and outside of your projects
- Actively growing your knowledge of best practice experience design, interaction design, media and news patterns, trends, and metrics.

**Qualifications**:
What we would like to see:

- 1-2 years experience in design, or a related field, with examples of work showcasing design experience or thinking
You have an understanding of responsive design
- You have experience in user interface (UI) design and prototyping with industry standard design tools (we use Figma) to produce build-ready designs
- You have an interest in developing skills across the end-to-end product design process of digital products, such as research, user experience (UX) design, interaction design, and visual design
- You have a keen eye for detail and visual storytelling, with an understanding of how to leverage the tools at your disposal
- You have a willingness to collaborate with other people, whether that’s your fellow designers, developers, product managers, and other stakeholders
- You have education or training in Human Computer Interaction, Interaction Design, User Experience Design, Industrial Design, Visual Communication, related field, or equivalent work experience.
- Examples of work showcasing design experience or thinking
- Experience with the following is a plus_
- Experience with, or an understanding of, designing for apps (iOS and/or Android)
- Experience in, or a passion for, designing media digital products.
