**Role Summary**:
The Head of Thermal Transition is a newly created opportunity based at either Muja or Perth with regular travel between our operating sites. Reporting to the Executive General Manager, you will join as a key member of Thermal Generation Leadership team and play a pivotal role for developing the long-term strategy for land, water, infrastructure, and people across all Synergy Thermal Generation sites to ensure Synergy meets its Corporate Strategy. This includes developing Synergy’s transition plan for physical assets, land use strategy, and workforce transition. This role will work closely with Synergy’s Strategy and Future Energy teams on future land use and investment opportunities.

**Key responsibilities of the role include**:

- Develop a strategic plan for decommissioned thermal generation assets and associated land that aligns to the social value pillar and supports site leadership and employee aspirations.
- Implement the strategic plan through the co-ordination of existing skills and teams working on asset decommissioning, workforce transition and community engagement, by meeting agreed milestones aligned with planned closure of coal generation assets.
- Engage with key stakeholders including community, first nations peoples, private and public sector agencies, and employees, to ensure where possible, a bottom-up approach is used for engagement and buy-in.
- Ensure all due diligence including commercial and environmental considerations are built into the Thermal Generation Transition strategy and triple bottom line business cases are developed.
- Work with internal and external stakeholders to secure Synergy’s land for future renewable or low carbon energy developments.

**What you’ll bring**:

- Tertiary Qualification in Leadership, Urban Planning, Business or equivalent
- Experience in relevant fields such as strategic land-use planning, infrastructure projects, and workforce transition
- Significant experience in negotiating with internal and external stakeholders to achieve a positive outcome
- Knowledge and experience in sustainability principles and practices.
- Demonstrated experience successfully delivering multi-discipline complex projects
- Demonstrate a people first approach with the ability to develop and sustain a high level of employee engagement
- Experience with engaging with state government agencies and other stakeholders including Department of Jobs, Tourism, Science and Innovation (JTSI), Department of Water and Environmental Regulation (DWER), Development WA, Local Governments, Community groups and Industry Partners
