Volunteer Education Support Assistant

**Oaktree College West Footscray** is an independent specialist senior secondary school dedicated to providing a sustainable and supportive learning community for students from migrant backgrounds who are at risk of disengaging from education. **Responsibilities**
- **Classroom Support**: Work alongside teachers to assist students with their learning, provide one-on-one or small group support, and help manage classroom activities.
- **Kitchen Assistance**: Help prepare and serve meals in the school kitchen, maintain cleanliness, and ensure the kitchen/dining area is tidy after meals.
- **Facilities Upkeep**: Assist in setting up classrooms and common areas each day and perform light cleaning duties to maintain a safe, organized learning environment.
- **General Support**: Provide additional support as needed around the school - this may include preparing learning materials, assisting with school events, or other tasks to help staff and students.

**Key Requirements**
- **Working With Children Check (WWCC) & Police Check**: A valid WWCC and police clearance are required prior to commencing (or willingness to obtain them promptly).
- **First Aid Certification**: Current first aid certification (or willingness to obtain one - the college can assist with arranging first aid training if needed).
- **Computer Skills**: Basic computer proficiency
- **Professional & Positive Attitude**: A professional demeanour with a willingness to learn, a positive outlook, and a respectful approach to students and staff.
- **Youth Engagement Ability**: Patience and the ability to work effectively with students who are at risk of disengagement, including those from diverse cultural backgrounds.

- **Flexible Schedule**: This is a volunteer position with flexible availability Monday to Friday, approximately 9:00am-5:00pm. We are willing to work with your schedule within these hours (you can commit to specific days or half-days that suit your availability).
