Environment and Sustainability Advisor

Downer Group are seeking an Environment and Sustainability Advisor based in our Underdale office Reporting to the Environment and Sustainability Manager, this is a significant position within Downer’s Transport and Infrastructure business.

Downer’s Transport and Infrastructure business is a leader in provision of sustainable products and services related to the road. As part of this, Downer innovates to create best-practice solutions that maximise the value of our customers’ assets and support the sustainability of their communities. We use leading practice to actively divert waste from landfill and reclaim materials for suitable reuse in established markets.

**THE PRIMARY OBJECTVICES OF THIS ROLE ARE**:

- Provide environment and sustainability support, with a focus on supporting the business to achieve environment and sustainability best practice.
- Coordinate work winning and project start up responses including identification of high risk/opportunity, approvals and development of project specific environmental management plans.
- Coordinate and provide oversight of the environment and sustainability compliance obligations including advice and support for the delivery of projects/ contract in addition to the management of fixed assets and fleet.
- Lead environmental incident response and investigation requirements.
- Promote environmentally safe working practices and provide leadership and training.
- Drive sustainability best practice outcomes aligned to Downer sustainability commitments, client and stakeholder expectations.
- Ensure the business is aligned to regulatory, ISO14001 and Downer standards.

**_This role will require you to be on site and site travel may be required within SA and on occasion, to other locations within Australia._**

**ABOUT YOU**:

- Tertiary Qualifications (Degree, Master etc) in Environmental Science/ Engineering/ Energy / Management, Sustainability or similar.
- Infrastructure Sustainability Accredited Professional (ISAP) desirable.
- Greater than 3 years of relevant experience.
- Experience within civil, construction and/or heavy industry will be highly regarded.
- Environmental legislative knowledge and frameworks in South Australia.
- Proven ability to provide environmental support across multiple sites.
- Ability to build close relationships and problem solve.
