**Instrument Technician**

**Royal Melbourne Hospital**
- Rotates through all areas of the Central Sterile Supply Department (CSSD).
- Works with high autonomy and accountability within established guidelines.
- Performs complex tasks under immediate direction of an Instrument Technician Supervisor.
- Ongoing part time role - 72 hours per fortnight.

**Your New Role**:
The Instrument Technician is responsible for the collection, cleaning, and decontamination of reusable critical and semi-critical medical equipment used by the operating suite and clinical units. Key duties include loading and unloading ultrasonic instruments, washers, dryers, and sterilizers according to instructions and general duties lists. The role involves packaging instruments as per manufacturer's instructions and department policies, as well as preparing, checking, and packaging instruments, including loan sets, for sterilization. The technician may also undertake additional tasks as directed by the CSSD Nurse Unit Manager.
