As the Remote Operations Manager for RoF, in this role your key purpose will be to deliver a complete end to end strategy and roadmap that is able to be implemented and integrated as part of the Refinery of the FutureTM remotely operated design which will allow multiple organisational components of a facility to safely operate the Alumina refining process and achieve maximum product output safely on any given day throughout the facility life and further contribute by:
- Delivering a low cost, simplified operation that utilises the right remote operating models and tools in conjunction with end-to-end workflows.- Implementing lean principles supporting the identification of highly reliable equipment to ensure availability, thereby minimising capital equipment requirement and human intervention.- Ensuring live planning is central to operation which after enablement, drives real time visibility, utilisation and availability of people and capabilities as well as physical equipment and materials for optimal allocation and benefits realisation across the organisational network.- Creating and promoting a value-based operations decision-making framework, supported by predictive and learning tools and processes, that considers holistic value for Alcoa and is asset agnostic- Minimising co-ordination and stakeholder friction, through co-location, decision clarity and management control, with easier and unchallenging integration across centralised support functions.- Defining the idealistic capabilities and requirements of each role that would be required within a remote operating centre.

Although the position is based in Australia, there may be the requirement to travel to other Alcoa regions globally. This includes the requirement to lead or participate in, out of hours meetings. An understanding of other cultural norms and practice will be required.

About you

To play a part in our ongoing success we are seeking someone with:
- Tertiary qualifications in Engineering or equivalent Project Management. Post-graduate studies would be considered highly desirable.- Extensive experience and expertise in engineering, development within large corporate environments preferably within the mining, resources and construction industry.- Proven ability in operations management and delivery of a facility start-up whilst managing a diverse program / portfolio of work and successful management of contractors.- Strong business acumen, effective influencing skills, and positive stakeholder engagement.- Technology development experience on major energy projects.- An analytical mindset, driven by solving complex problems, and delivering innovative solutions within required time frames.
