**Who we are**
The Emissions Reduction Division develops and implements Australia’s domestic climate mitigation policies and programs, including medium and long-term greenhouse gas emissions reduction policies and targets. It is also responsible for reducing emissions in the transport sector, voluntary action, and emissions reporting and projections.
You will be working in the National Inventory Systems and International Reporting (NISIR) Branch. This Branch delivers the National Greenhouse Accounts, which provide information on Australia’s historical, current and projected greenhouse gas emissions. This data is critical to Australia’s response to climate change, informing the design and tracking the effectiveness of domestic climate action and progress towards emissions reduction targets, fulfilling Australia’s international emissions reporting obligations and informing future emissions reductions targets. The data produced in the Branch provides key inputs into work across the Division, agencies at all levels of government, and the private sector.
The Branch also supports negotiation of rules-based approaches to international measurement, reporting and verification of national emissions in the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), and Australia’s engagement in the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC).
**The Job**
We are looking for a dynamic highly motivated AGEIS quality controller who will, as part of a small multi-disciplinary team:
- coordinate implementation of quality assurance and quality control measures to maintain the reliability and accuracy of Australian Greenhouse Emissions Information System (AGEIS),
- perform quality assurance testing and issue management,
- identify opportunities to improve quality assurance outcomes through innovation and automation.
- broadly support the work of the branch to enable the department to make evidence-based decisions and support the Department’s domestic and international reporting responsibilities.
**What we are looking for**
**Knowledge and experience**
The following will be highly regarded:
- skills, knowledge and experience in a professional quality assurance and testing role and/or tertiary qualifications in a related field,
- demonstrated experience in undertaking data quality assurance and quality control, including in a team environment,
- demonstrated ability to work in agile environments, be self-motivated with an eye for detail,
- experience with automated quality control testing processes and tools.
**Skills and capabilities**
- strong organisational and problem-solving skills and attention to detail,
- strong written and verbal communication skills and a demonstrated ability to clearly convey an idea or concept to different audiences,
- proven ability to build positive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders,
- demonstrated ability to prioritise and meet competing deadlines in a high paced environment when faced with short and long-term priorities.
**Eligibility and other requirements**
**Citizenship** - To be eligible for employment with the Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water you must be an Australian citizen.
**Security Clearance** - This position requires a Baseline Vetting security clearance. You will be required to obtain and maintain a clearance at this level.
