Our in-house café offers specialty coffee and a simple yet high-quality food menu that reflects modern Australian tastes. We focus on using local and sustainable produce, with a strong emphasis on excellent service and community engagement. Our café is a key meeting point for members, fostering connections and enhancing the workplace experience.

**About the Role**
The Part-Time Barista is responsible for delivering high-quality coffee and exceptional customer service while maintaining efficiency in a fast-paced environment. This role involves overseeing coffee preparation, managing stock and supplies, maintaining equipment, and ensuring adherence to quality standards. The Barista is also responsible for fostering a positive team culture and assisting in training and development.

**About You**

**Required Skills and Experience**:

- 2+ years of experience as a barista in an Australian café
- Strong knowledge of coffee preparation, milk texturing, and espresso extraction
- Experience with stock control and ordering supplies
- Ability to troubleshoot and maintain coffee equipment
- Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
- Strong organisational and multitasking abilities
- Food Safety Supervisor certification (preferred)
- Physical fitness with the ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 20kg

**Key Responsibilities**

**Customer Service**
- Lead by example with a strong presence on the floor and in service
- Provide exceptional customer service and engage with members positively
- Ensure all coffee and food items meet quality standards
- Address customer inquiries and resolve complaints professionally
- Foster a positive and collaborative team environment

**Coffee Preparation & Quality Control**
- Ensure consistency in coffee preparation and presentation
- Maintain and follow established coffee recipes and standards
- Monitor milk texturing and espresso extraction to maintain quality
- Train and mentor team members in coffee techniques and service

**Stock Control and Ordering**
- Manage inventory levels to ensure adequate stock of coffee, milk, and other supplies
- Place orders for supplies in a timely manner
- Monitor stock rotation and minimise waste

**Equipment Maintenance**
- Ensure all coffee equipment is well-maintained and functioning properly
- Schedule regular maintenance and address repairs promptly
- Conduct daily cleaning and upkeep of machines and workspace

**Work Health and Safety**
- Educate team members on WHS policies to maintain a safe work environment
- Ensure compliance with food safety and hygiene regulations
- Conduct regular checks to ensure cleanliness and operational safety
