In response to our growing team, this new and exciting opportunity is available for a Maternal and Child Health Nurse with extensive experience and is dedicated to supporting the professional development of existing and future MCH nurses.
**What you’ll be doing**:
- This is a key position within the Maternal and Child Health (MCH) leadership team and is responsible for supporting the coordination, planning, development and delivery of educational support and programs to maintain and enhance workforce capability, skills and practical improvement opportunities for the current and future MCH workforce at Hume City Council (Hume).
- The MCH Workforce & Capability Lead supports clinical governance functions of MCH leadership at Hume and drives practice improvement opportunities to support clinical placements, transition to practice, preparedness and promote a high standard of clinical care for all MCH staff.
- The MCH Workforce & Capability Lead collaborates with relevant stakeholders within a continual improvement philosophy to achieve effective outcomes to ensure optimal family centred primary health care is provided for caregivers and their children from birth to 6 years in Hume, to maximise their health, development and educational outcomes.
- Plan, implement and coordinate contemporary professional development for the current and future MCH workforce, including the Universal and Enhanced MCH teams, and the orientation program for new staff.
- Provide positive role modelling demonstrating day to day practice and behaviours consistent with Hume Values, Culture and Staff Code of Conduct.
- Contribute to and participate in research, surveys, and benchmarking, etc to direct and plan for future service requirements.
**The skills and experience you’ll bring to the role**:
- Extensive experience working in MCH or related service area.
- Demonstrated ability to manage and supervise staff.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and gain assistance from key areas within the organisation.
- Knowledge and understanding of the State Government reform agenda and its implications for the design and delivery of MCH and Early Years services.
- Experience in supervising multidisciplinary teams including the provision of clinical supervision and leading staff through change, desirable.
**Required Certifications & Qualifications**:
- Registration as a Division 1 Nurse, Midwife and Maternal and Child Health Nurse with extensive experience in MCH.
- A current Practicing Certificate from AHPRA (Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Association). In addition, hold post graduate qualifications in Child and Family Health studies.
- National Police Check. Working With Children Check (Employee).
- Current driver’s licence and availability of a roadworthy car during working hours.
- Additional education qualification e.g., Certificate IV in Assessment and Training, Clinical Supervision, or working towards same (desirable)
