**Where you'll be working**
As a new service, the Bereavement Service values creativity and innovation in regards to the delivery of specialist counselling. Individual and group approaches to grief counselling are encouraged, while pursuing quality improvements and research opportunities informed by evidence-based practice. **What you'll be doing**
The Bereavement Counsellor is responsible to the Co-Director, Palliative Care and works with the Bereavement Coordinator/Counsellor and other counselling team members. The position sits within the Palliative Care Division to deliver specialist bereavement counselling and support across the ISLHD.
The Bereavement Counsellor is responsible for the delivery of specialist bereavement counselling and support to bereaved persons within the ISLHD. The Bereavement Counsellor will provide patient centred, evidence based therapeutic interventions and will work in collaboration with the Bereavement Coordinator/Counsellor to support the implementation of the Bereavement Model of Care, deliver broader activities within the bereavement program and participate in service planning, policy and service development. As a senior clinician, the Bereavement Counsellor will offer consultation and education to multidisciplinary staff within the ISLHD, as well as to the wider community.

**Talent Pool**

This role is a **Category A **role. Preferred applicants will be reviewed for compliance and required to maintain compliance with the screening, assessment and vaccination requirements, relevant to your position, as outlined in NSW Health policy directive on Occupational Assessment, Screening and Vaccination against Specified Infectious Diseases.
Selection Criteria
- Relevant tertiary qualifications in Social Work, Counselling or Psychology and eligible for, or membership with, relevant professional body. For Psychologist, current registration to practice from the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
- Extensive experience as a counselling clinician in bereavement, palliative care or end of life contexts with specialist knowledge of bereavement, loss and grief processes and relevant post-graduate qualification, or working towards same.
- Experience in developing and delivering education and training programs in the areas of grief, loss and bereavement and the ability to support, supervise and mentor other health professionals.
