Overview

Occupational Therapist Level 3 - Safeguards Child, and Adolescent Mental Health Response Team role at Illawarra Mercury. Support children and young people by providing mental health assessments and delivering brief interventions. Become an integral part of the Safeguards Team in the Illawarra as a Level 3 Occupational Therapist.

Permanent Full Time position based in Wollongong. Salary: $112,396 – $116,038 per annum + 12% super & salary packaging. Applications close: 23 September 2025. REQ603241. Grade: Occupational Therapist Level 3.

Responsibilities
  • Provide mental health assessments and deliver brief interventions for children and adolescents (0-17 years) experiencing acute mental health distress.
  • Operate as part of the Safeguards Team with rapid, mobile, and flexible care, including assessment, assertive outreach, and referrals.
  • Deliver face-to-face, telephone, or audio-visual appointments and, where appropriate, provide brief therapeutic interventions and short-term care coordination.
  • Collaborate with the adult Acute Care Team (ACT) as needed based on service demand and work with families and carers.
  • Respond to young people in diverse settings (schools, homes, communities) in a timely manner.
Qualifications & Requirements
  • Current AHPRA Registration
  • Working With Children Check (WWCC) and applicable vaccination requirements for a Category A role
  • Current NSW Driver's Licence
