The Employee Entitlement Safeguards and Policy Division administers the Fair Entitlements Guarantee (FEG) Program, the Fair Entitlements Guarantee Recovery Program and has a significant role taking forward the Government’s significant workplace relations agenda, including as it relates to the compliance and enforcement framework under the Fair Work Act 2009 (FW Act).
The FEG program is a beneficial scheme of last resort for employees, paying them specific owed unpaid entitlements where their former employer has entered liquidation or bankruptcy.. The department administers the FEG program in accordance with Fair Entitlements Guarantee Act 2012 (the FEG Act).
The FEG team administers the program by:
- assessing claims for financial assistance made by employees who are owed employment entitlements after losing their jobs due to insolvency.
- working closely with insolvency practitioners managing the affairs of insolvent employers.
- making decisions that comply with the requirements of the FEG Act to make timely and accurate payments to claimants.
- working in an a high demand service environment, interacting directly with the Australian public.
- conducting internal reviews and AAT/court litigation relating to FEG claim decisions.
- managing fraud and compliance.
- undertaking business support functions including strategic finance, ICT systems, and data functions, and
- providing policy advice on the administration of the FEG Act.
**The Role***
**EL1 - Assistant Director, FEG AAT team**
**Duties and Responsibilities**
- Lead a team of program officers in working with departmental and external lawyers managing AAT and court matters and exercise delegated authority to make formal internal review decisions under the FEG Act.
- Work closely with internal review officers and FEG claims teams to ensure that effective feedback is provided in relation to AAT and court decisions affecting the FEG program.
- Oversee the management of feedback and complaints made in relation to the FEG program, including complaints to the Ombudsman.
- Contribute to a culture of continuous improvement and effective quality management.
**EL1 - Assistant Director, FEG Claim Assessment teams**
**Duties and Responsibilities**
- Lead a team of people to process quality and timely claims for FEG assistance.
- Manage competing priorities, steer and guide the workflow and resourcing for the day-to-day operations of the team.
- Strategic planning to sustain efficient and effective program delivery on an ongoing basis.
