We have an exciting opportunity for a full-time Court Supervisor to join an established team at our Melbourne Custody Centre (CBD) location, with training due to start early July.
As a Court Supervisor working alongside people in challenging situations, a great deal of resilience, maturity, compassion, and empathy is required to promote positive engagement with those detained in custody and diffuse and manage conflict that may occur.
It's imperative that people are made to feel safe and supported whilst in our care.
About The Role
- Ensuring that people in custody are available for escort to the appropriate court room at the correct time.
- Identifying the number of officers required each day and ensuring the rosters are prepared maximising staffing efficiencies.
- Being responsible for the accurate interpretation of court documents, including warrants of imprisonment, remand warrants, court orders and bail undertakings.
- Being responsible for the lawful release of prisoners from the Police Goal.
- Monitoring and maintaining the dynamic and static security requirements of the Police Goal reporting, orally and in writing, any unusual behaviour or occurrences which could result in a breach of the safety and/or security of the Police Goal.
- Ensuring the facilitation of visits by legal representatives.

- Highly competitive pay and benefits -$36.77 per hour + penalties
**Requirements**:
- Exceptional communication skills with the ability to build rapport with people of all ages from varying backgrounds
- Demonstrated conflict resolution and negotiation skills
- Experience working as part of and contributing towards a close knit team
- Strong written communication with an understanding of report writing
- Positive, solutions focused approach to complex and challenging issues with the ability to think outside the box
- Proven record in mentoring and leading teams
- Advantageous to have experience in X-ray screening
