Foh Manager
The position is for a casual or part-time FOH manager, reporting to the owner. You will work in a team with 2 other managers. The main responsibility is to manage the front-of-house staff and serve customers during service.
On a typical day, you would:
- Arrive at the venue an hour before the restaurant opens.
- Set up the restaurant in preparation for service (mise en place).
- Complete some light cleaning duties.
- Check stock levels and arrange for stock required for that shift (run to Coles).
- Open the restaurant.
- Serve customers, including seat them, give the menu intro, take orders, run food and drinks, wait the tables, etc.
- Manage the front-of-house staff - assign them stations and extra duties as required. Send them on break when needed.
- Answer the phone to take reservations or answer customer questions.
- Close the restaurant. Clean the tables and floors. Pack away the bar stock and clean it. Count the tills. Run the Close of Day report.
You will need to know how to bartend (make drinks, including cocktails and coffee). If you don't know how to do this yet, training will be provided.
You will be working with the other managers as a team, with all of you working together to provide equal and fair coverage across all the opening hours of the restaurant.
A positive mental attitude and willingness to learn are far more valued than years of experience. We have a very positive work environment at Babylonia. Some of the staff have been with us since we opened 2 years ago. Some are new and doing an amazing job. The staff are lovely. The customers are great.
Bar experience is a bonus, but not essential.
Immediate start.
