Context:
**The Opportunity**:
As the Principal Consultant - Operational Planning, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the successful implementation and transition of major rail projects into operational phases. This role focuses on advising, modeling, and analyzing transport operations to develop and implement effective operational strategies. The Principal Consultant will manage a growing team and work closely with clients to deliver high-quality, value-driven solutions.

The role is based at our Sydney CBD location and we also welcome a hybrid flexible working model.

Missions/Main Duties:

- Develop Concept of Operations for new or changed networks.
- Create and assess timetables, ensuring feasibility.
- Determine rolling stock and crew requirements for new networks or timetables.
- Evaluate signalling design capacity and network performance under perturbed conditions.
- Lead and manage a team of 3-8 staff members.
- Assign roles and tasks to ensure timely and high-quality outcomes.
- Provide coaching, guidance, and support to team members.

Profile/Skills:
**About You**:

- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or equivalent.
- Chartered status or working towards chartered status from a relevant institution (e.g., CPEng, RPEQ, NER).
- Demonstrated experience in operational planning and analysis for commuter rail in Australian capital cities.
- Experience with conventionally signaled networks and in-cab signalling (CBTC, ETCS L2).
- Proven track record in creating timetables and engaging with the market for proposal requests.
- Experience in team and project management.
