**Civil Construction Labourer (Works Officer 03)**

**Salary**:$68,972.28 per annum (plus industry allowance)

- Greater Shepparton City Council is looking to recruit a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual to join its Civil Infrastructure Maintenance Department as a Works Officer 03. This is a fantastic opportunity to join our experienced team as a permanent employee.
- As a Works Officer 03 you will be required to work as part of a small team that is responsible for delivering maintenance on sealed roads.
- We’re looking for applicants who bring strengths in the following areas:

- Hotmix raking
- Sealed road patching
- Plant operations
- Line marking

Applicants must hold a current Victorian driver’s licence and a construction induction card. The following licences will be considered favourably.

- Heavy vehicle licence
- This position may work with, or around, Crystalline Silica. It is a requirement of the role to read and understand information relating to Silica:
**1. What is Crystalline Silica?**
- Crystalline silica is the crystalline form of silicon dioxide, or silica, a naturally occurring mineral that forms a major component of most rocks.
- The most common type of crystalline silica is quartz, which is found in sand, stone and granite.

**2. What are the Health Risks?**
- Respirable crystalline silica can be harmful when it becomes airborne and is inhaled. Exposure to high concentrations over a short period of time, or low to medium concentrations over a long period of time can lead to serious diseases, including:

- silicosis
- lung cancer
- kidney disease
- autoimmune disease

**To mitigate the risk, GSCC will provide to all employees**:

- Health monitoring to be conducted on entry and exit of employment
- Correct PPE supplied to all employees
- Training, Education and Information
