**The Pyjama Foundation**
The Pyjama Foundation provides children in foster care the opportunity to change the direction of their lives with learning, life skills and confidence. We recruit, screen, train and support volunteers (learning mentors) who are matched with a child in care, spending time with them once a week, focusing on learning-based activities.
We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced individual to join our team, based in Sydney. This is a part-time or full-time role.

Note: Within this role you may come into contact with children. The suitable applicant will need to have, or be eligible for a NSW Working With Children Check (WWCC), which typically involves national criminal history and workplace misconduct checks.
POSITION DESCRIPTION
**Job title**: Program Support
**Supervisor**: NSW Coordinator & NSW Placement Coordinator/Program Lead
**Main Duties/Responsibilities**:
- Ensuring all Carers, Children, Child Safety Officers, Pyjama Angels, corporates, and key contact details are kept up to date in the database.
- Assisting with checking all relevant paperwork for volunteer Pyjama Angel positions including Working With Children Checks and Referee checks.
- Assisting in the organisation and execution of training of volunteer Pyjama Angels, including coordination of dates and venues, materials and other requirements for training, Carer and Pyjama Angel guest speakers and any other volunteers to help on the day.
- Assisting in communication with Child Safety Departments and Out of Home Care Agencies to ensure awareness of The Pyjama Foundation’s service and in obtaining referrals for children.
- Assisting with arranging placement of Pyjama Angels with Children in Out of Home Care and arranging for feedback.
- Assisting with recommendation and when relevant sourcing of appropriate resources for the Love of Learning Program and region.
- Ensuring appropriate risk analysis or risk management is undertaken for the screening and placement of volunteers.
- Risk management activities for Love of Learning Program including but not limited to referrals and unsupervised visit process.
- Assisting with referrals intake and assessment for suitability of the Love of Learning Program, with timely, accurate communication of queries or risks to relevant coordinators and managers.
- Support the organisation and documentation of In-Kind donations and events.
- As requested, engage in and facilitate key Pyjama Angel support events such as Spread Your Wings and Meet and Mingle events.
- Help achieve successful outcomes relating to program evaluation.
- Maintain communication with all staff and request support when necessary.
- Supporting office volunteers to achieve successful outcomes as requested by your Manager.
- Working with other staff to identify service delivery gaps and program improvements.
- Responsible for health and safety procedures, hazard reporting and safe working practices.
- Other duties as delegated to you by your manager/supervisor, provided that those new job requirements are safe, efficient, relevant, legal and within your abilities.

- Foster a co-operative and harmonious relationship with staff and external stakeholders.
- At all times perform duties and interact with team members and external stakeholders in accordance with the mission and values of The Pyjama Foundation.
- Participate in performance appraisal activities relevant to the role.
- Actively participate in training activities.
- Actively participate in quality improvement activities relevant to the role.
- Work within and promote the organisation’s workplace health and safety policies, procedures and guidelines.
- Documentation and safe record keeping of all data and case notes, ensuring confidentiality is maintained at all times.
**SKILLS & EXPERIENCE**
- Demonstrated interest and enthusiasm in increasing the literacy skills, numeracy skills and self-esteem of Children in care.
- Demonstrated empathy and understanding of the issues faced by Children and Carers within the out of home care system.
- Demonstrated skills and experience in providing strategies and advice around education and how to engage children.
- Experience proactively managing workload and deadlines in a complex environment, with excellent self-management and other organisational skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication.
- High attention to detail and pursuit of quality in accomplishing tasks.
