**The Role**
We are seeking innovative and solution focused APS 5s to fill a variety of roles across the Environment and Engineering Branch where you will have the opportunity to:

- Review environmental reports and prepare self-assessments of Defence actions under the EPBC
- Develop solutions to complex problems that meet both capability needs and environmental compliance
- Design and implement environment, sustainability and heritage policies, and assure delivery of programs to achieve environmental stewardship
- Provide support to contamination, PFAS or explosive ordnance remediation programs.
- Undertake data analysis, performance reporting and communication management.

We want to hear from you if you have experience in any of the following:

- Environmental conservation and sustainable management practices.
- Managing geospatial data, databases, and workflows.
- Project management, contract management and procurement.
- Assurance processes in an environmental system context.
- Negotiating policy positions and engaging with a diverse range of stakeholders.

**About our Team**
Environment and Engineering Branch is accountable for the delivery of the Defence Environmental Strategy.

Functions include:

- Providing advice and support to infrastructure projects, Defence personnel and communities on environment and heritage management.
- Environmental approvals of Defence activities and projects
- Providing technical policy and advice on chemical and material hazards including explosive ordnance.
- Managing national programs of contamination identification and remediation including PFAS.
- Policy lead for energy, water, waste, climate adaptation and mitigation and sustainability, and providing technical advice and sustainability focused performance solutions for all infrastructure projects.
- Policy lead for land management, heritage, pollution prevention, bushfire management and biodiversity.
- Providing engineering policy and technical advice for the Defence estate
- Providing assurance of the safety of live fire ranges and buildings.
- Cyberworthiness throughout the Defence estate, and managing the Estate Governance and Integrity System.

To be successful in these roles you will have:

- Highly developed communication, organisation and negotiation skills.
- Experience in stakeholder engagement and liaison.
- Flexibility, self-motivation and resourcefulness.
- Attention to detail and ability to identify and provide solutions to complex problems.
- Managing large and complex projects
- Experience in working collaboratively across large and dispersed teams.

Desirable but not mandatory skill sets:

- Environmental management experience to support delivery of diverse projects and activities across Defence.
- Qualified engineers to provide performance solutions to deliver a fit for purpose estate.
- Experience managing and creating geospatial data, databases, and workflows.
- Contract and procurement experience.
