**The Opportunity**
We are looking for APS6 level officers to undertake economic analysis and provide advice on the implications of international economic and political developments for Australia’s trade and investment, development, and foreign policy interests. This analysis and advice is critical to DFAT’s development and implementation of its policy agenda.
Ministers and the DFAT Executive hold the work of the economists within the department in high regard. Credible, timely and accurate economic analysis is essential to DFAT’s development and implementation of evidence-based public policy.
An academic background and/or professional experience in economic analysis, policy advice and/or data analytics and economic modelling is important, as are strong written communications skills. Above all, we are looking for individuals who can translate economics into policy-ready insights.
There are positions available across the Department in the Office of the Pacific (OTP) and the Climate Diplomacy and Development Finance Division (CSD) within the Development and Multilateral Group.
**This selection process will be used to establish a merit list to fill current and future vacancies across multiple areas in the department. We do encourage you to reach out to the contact officers to learn more about the roles.**
You have the analytical and quantitative skills to analyse and present insights from economic and trade data. You appreciate and can articulate the importance of international developments for Australia’s trade, development and foreign policy interests, and the role that this plays in Australia’s prosperity and stability.
From you work experience and education it enables you to provide analytical input into policy advice on the impacts of international economic developments and Australia’s policy choices on Australia’s trade, development and foreign policy interests.
As a professional you will have strong communication skills in order to influence internal and external stakeholders to secure outcomes consistent with DFAT’s interests. Your strong communication skills will see you work effectively with other Australian Government agencies, foreign governments, non-government organisations and business.
This role will challenge you and build on your skills and experience to propel your career to the next level.
Duties may be adjusted to recognise the knowledge, skills and experience of the successful applicant.
**Application Details**
