About us
The Magistrates' Court of Victoria (MCV) is a jurisdiction within the Court Services Victoria statutory authority, and has a long history of providing justice for the people of Victoria in metropolitan and regional courts across the state.
The Court determines in excess of 300,000 cases per annum at 51 venues, equating to approximately 90 per cent of all cases that come before Victorian courts each year. The Court aims to be an innovative, accessible and responsive court that provides quality services to the Victorian community.
About the role
The Family Violence Registrar works in conjunction with the Manager, Intervention Order & Family Law Registry and their fellow Registrar to manager the Family Violence team day to day to ensure the smooth running of courts and the preparation of lists and files.
The Family Violence Registrar is responsible for working with trainees on rotation to learn the required skills of a Registrar working in the Family Violence area and to provide advice to deputies and qualified registrars in the Registry.
About you
The Family Violence Registrar will have strong knowledge of the requirements of the Family Violence jurisdiction and have emerging leadership skills to facilitate working closely with the team to support and educate team members to meet the needs of court users in a sensitive area.
Excellent judgement is required to make decisions about the handling of matters as they occur and to escalate as required.
