As a Therapeutic Youth Worker at MacKillop, you will play a vital and rewarding role in delivering high-quality therapeutic support to vulnerable children and young people. You will be responsible for addressing their emotional, social, and behavioural needs within their home and the community. Working closely with the House Manager, Coordinator, Case Worker, Therapeutic Specialist, and other dedicated MacKillop professionals, you will provide therapeutic care to support young people on their healing journey.

This role primarily focuses on supporting young people with high and complex needs who cannot be accommodated in foster care. These young people often face challenges related to mental health, disability, emotional wellbeing, and behaviour, which may present risks to themselves and others around them.

- Availability to work a variety of shifts including sleepovers and active nights
- Positive and friendly attitude
- Excellent communication skills, written and verbal

**Key Selection Criteria**:
To excel in this role, you should possess the following:

- Proven ability to work therapeutically with young people facing social, emotional, and behavioural difficulties, as well as those who have experienced significant trauma and adversity.
- Track record of following case plans, behaviour support plans, and safety plans for young people with complex needs, including challenging behaviour.
- Ability to role model and reinforce positive behaviour through social learning, social responsibility, and emotional intelligence.
- Assist young people to develop independent living and life skills.
- Contribute to the development, implementation and review of individual plans that support the emotional, social, and behavioural needs of young people.
- Provide services that are sensitive to the needs of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander and CALD young people and their families.

**Requirements**:
To be eligible for this role, you must possess:

- Have a Cert IV in Community Services, or Youth Work (or related) or higher or be willing to obtain.
- Valid and current Driver's License
- Satisfactory Criminal History Check (paid for by MacKillop)
- Valid Employee Working with Vulnerable People Check
