**Role and Responsibilities**

The role will spearhead developing and maintaining a “safety first” culture across the company by providing leadership, coaching, mentoring, strategy, direction and specialist advice in order to achieve CAE’s goals to be a global employer of choice and work-class leader in safety. In relation to the community and environment, the role will also be responsible for driving initiatives to support CAE’s social responsibility goal in creating a positive and sustainable impact in our communities and environment.

The role reports to the Head of Enabling Services who is part of the Executive Leadership team with commitment to provide you an environment where you will be highly motivated, empowered and given autonomy to decide and deliver. You will be supported with a high performing team and provide you with necessary tools to develop and grow in this role.

The role will also give you the ability to travel within Australia and New Zealand where you will support our multiple site operations, work with a diverse and fantastic CAE team and, provide ideas to improve our high-technology products with respect to safety and environment footprint. **Key Responsibilities will include but are not limited to**:

- Responsible for the implementation and continuous improvement of the Environment Health and Safety Management System (EHSMS) which complies to CAE’s policies, legislations, contracts, ISO 45001 and ISO 14001.
- Develop and implement vision, strategy, objectives and plans.
- Develop, train and coach EHS personnel (committee members, representatives, etc.).
- Provide leadership advice through analysis of the EHS data for risk and hazard identification, improvement opportunities and best practices, EHS related findings or outcomes, and many others as driven by the strategy. This may also include providing advice on direction, improve capabilities and operational excellence.
- Working with the global and other regional EHS team to ensure CAE’s vision, objectives, goals and targets are met, implemented, communicated and sustained.
- Act as the specialist and provide technical expertise, develop/update policies and procedures, and support all the sites on any questions on conformance to company or official regulations on EHS; and liaise with EHS CAE Global representatives, as required.
- Conduct site visits on a regular basis.
- Submission of safety and environment metrics and reports.
- Foster awareness of LFEs and Lessons learned.

**Required Knowledge, Skills and Experience**:

- Extensive experience in managing EHS function/department OR proven leadership experience in the field of Health, Safety and Environment
- Sound knowledge and experience in the areas of safety including industrial hygiene, ergonomics and hazardous material management.
- Proven success in improving processes, reducing waste, risk management and mitigation, and aligning organisation’s culture to company’s strategy.
- Excellent communication and writing skills (particularly to do with investigative reports).
- Able to develop and deliver presentations and reports.
- Knowledge of health and safety laws, ISO 45001 and regulations.
- Knowledge of ISO 14001 and environmental regulations
- Preferably have diploma or certification to workplace, health and safety.

**Note**: _As the Australian Department of Defence is a major client, you must be eligible for Baseline Defence security clearance, and preferably already hold a current Baseline clearance._
