**About the Role**
- Your role as the Finance Analyst will support the provision of financial analysis and information technology services with the aim of enhancing performance and achieving better financial results of the State. Moreso, you will be involved in aiding the preparation of comprehensive analysis concerning overaching matters and risks across the portfolio. **Position Outcomes**
To be successful in the role, you must provide financial and budget management to portfolio groups, agencies and to senior management. Your main focus is to ensure that the Department has sustainable budget practices, and that strategies are in place to identify and manage risks to the portfolio’s financial position. Pivotal in the role is to ensure the integrity of the portfolio budget information in accordance with the Financial Management Act 1994, including reconciliation of budget information and forward estimates within information systems, and other data held in DTP's SRIMS system.

The **Finance Analyst **must have the knowledge and skills in demonstrating:

- Financial skills: Excellent financial skills and demonstrated experience in budgeting and financial analysis.
- Conceptual and analytical ability: Deals with concepts and complexity comfortably.
- Detail focus: Observes fine details. Identifies gaps in information.
- Strategic Planning: Thinks at the big picture level and translates strategic direction into day-to-day activities.
- Stakeholder Management: Identifies issues in common for one or more stakeholders and uses to build mutually beneficial partnerships.
- Service Excellence: Identifies and responds to clients’ underlying needs.

**Qualifications and Experience**
**Desirable**
Specialist qualification: finance or accounting degree and/or professional qualification such as CA or CPA is highly desirable.
Understanding of government: Strong working knowledge of key processes involved in government budgeting and finance and delivery of government business including preparation of Cabinet submissions.

**Other role Requirements**
May involve (but unlikely to require) evening or weekend work including occasional overnight travel.
You may be required to undertake a medical and other safety compliance requirement.
