**The Opportunity**

We have an opportunity for a Manager Industry Partnerships to be part of our Biosecurity Division within the Department of Primary Industries and Regions.

The Manager Industry Partnerships will contribute to achieving the Plant Biosecurity Operations objectives through planning, delivering, reviewing, and reporting on plant health programs and outcomes, including managing industry engagement and partnerships with a focus on plant biosecurity surveillance and associated regulatory activities. The position interprets and evaluates research findings and uses professional judgment to make decisions along with managing various complex and politically sensitive projects, and activities associated with plant biosecurity and plant pest management functions.

The Manager Industry Partnerships is to work with already established industry groups and/or to establish stakeholder groups to identify priorities and address plant pest management issues including:

- The establishment and/or maintenance of systems to support area freedom status for significant plant pests that do not currently occur in South Australia.
- The collection and management of data to support Area Freedom claims, including from parties external to government (i.e., plant industries).
- Plant pest preparedness support, planning and exercises.
- The assessment of current and future production and marketing trends for plant production industries in each area.
- The collaborative development and delivery of co-funded projects with other governments and industry bodies to support plant biosecurity in South Australia.

The incumbent must have a sound understanding of the _Plant Health Act_ and its operation, as well as be familiar with other state, national and international frameworks, in particular the International Standards for Phytosanitary Measures (ISPM) relating to pest-free areas and surveillance.

The role contributes to PIRSA’s strategic priorities, including overall responsibility for biosecurity, plant pest policy, planning, surveillance, preparedness, incursion response and ongoing management.

**Requirements**:

- Possession of a current driver’s license and willingness to drive.
- Out of hours work and inter / intrastate travel may be required.
- Australian residency or current works permit is required (responsibility of applicant to provide evidence of a current work permit).
- The incumbent will be required to undertake emergency management training and must be willing to participate in emergency preparedness, response and recovery activities required by government agencies.

**Remuneration**

PO3 - $101,285 min - $107,078 max per annum, plus superannuation
