**How will I help?**

The **Automation Principal - Networking **within the Secure Networking Services group (SNS) at Westpac is responsible for governing Networking Automation initiatives and automation operations within SNS. This is a senior role reporting to the Service Owner, SNS Shared Services, and works in collaboration with all automation teams across Westpac.

The Automation principal is a full stack developer with hands on experience working within a. large enterprise. The intent of this role is to advocate and champion Westpac’s Enterprise Development Frameworks and work with SNS teams to ensure best practice DevOps principles are followed and implemented.

This role is an Individual Contributor within SNS who will influence and drive best practise Devops across SNS automation teams.

Key Accountabilities include but not limited to:

- Drive best practise devops principles across SNS
- Develop monthly reporting on all aspects of development and automation across SNS
- Identify automation opportunities for improvement and work with teams to implement
- Collaborate with Enterprise Development, Engineering and Automation teams across Westpac to champion strategic direction within SNS
- Lead the Automation Community of Practise for SNS
- Develop and present automation roadmaps
- Develop tools and Dashboards to profile automation activities
- Provide input into the development of technology strategies, standards and governance procedures to support the development of effective automation strategies, standards and procedures
- Assess latest developments in networking automation and continually evaluate and advise on opportunities for improvement

**What do I need?**

**Essential Technical Skills**:

- Expert in Linux, Docker Containers, Kubernetes (Microservices)
- Expert in creating CI/CD Pipelines using Jenkins and other equivalent CI/CD Toolsets.
- Expert in developing tools and dashboards for data/reporting analytics for business.
- Expert knowledge and hands-on experience with End-to-End network/security automation for both on-premises infrastructure and public cloud (AWS, Azure, GCP, etc).
- Hands-on experienced with Terraform, Ansible, Hashicorp, MongoDB, SQL, Kafka, Elastic Search, Splunk.

**Desirable Technical Skills**:
Operational knowledge of Juniper SRX firewalls & Checkpoint firewalls, VMWare NSX DFW, Load balancing F5 LTM/GTM, DNS, DHCP, IPAM, Cisco ACS/ISE, Monitoring software such as Solarwinds or equivalents, VMWare vRealizes, Cisco Routers/Switches, Dynamic routing knowledges (BGP, OSPF etc)

**Essential Soft Skills**:

- Excellent communicator with experience presenting to business stakeholders and senior leadership teams.
- Experience leading matrixed teams and driving initiatives which drive improvements in network automation.
- Hands-on experienced in supporting cultural change across the organisation and leading continuous improvement initiatives with people, process, and technology
- Demonstrated ability to work in a matrixed organisation
- Fine
- tuned interpersonal skills and relationship management skills

**Education**
- Tertiary qualifications in IT or related discipline, or equivalent experience
- Post graduate qualifications in IT or related discipline desirable
- Relevant technical certifications such as DevOps certification
