**All about the role**

No two days are alike for a Casual Youth Worker - this is one of the best youth work roles on the Coast

Our Youth Shelter’s operate in a 24/7 environment, which means we offer a range of diverse shifts, including weekends, nights, sleepovers and public holidays. When you first commence, the majority of your shifts will be afternoons 4 pm to 10 pm and sleepovers 4 pm to 8 am. A sleepover shift involves an 8 hour break, where you get paid to sleep

When you join Coast Shelter you will be part of our Youth Services team, which operates 5 shelters across the Central Coast, assisting our young people aged 16 to 24 years old.

A key part of the role is creating a home like environment and tailoring your support to each young persons needs. You will support young people to attain their educational goals, undertake extracurricular activities and support their connection to community and family.

You know that youth work is exactly the work you want to do. You have a passion for working with young people, who may be going through a difficult time in their life and can be a supportive, confident and positive role model.

You will have the skills to assist the young person in building confidence and resilience, so they can make positive choices for their future. You will be emotionally intelligent, creative and flexible and be able to build strong relationships with the young people.

You will need to have a relevant tertiary qualification (certificate level or higher) and experience working with young people. A solid understanding of the child protection system, as well as having a strong therapeutic background would be highly advantageous.
