Hospital Chaplain

The purpose of this placement is to provide and ensure high-quality pastoral and spiritual care services on behalf of the Uniting Church within the Gold Coast Hospitals for patients, their carers, families and staff as an expression of the mission of the church.

The Church is seeking to call a Minister who will:

- Represent the Uniting Church within the life of the Gold Coast Hospitals.
- Be an effective part of delivering holistic care within the Gold Coast Hospitals, providing pastoral care and spiritual development to staff, patients and their families as appropriate.
- On referral and from appropriate lists provided by the hospitals, visit patients, assess spiritual needs and provide compassionate care.
- Participate in and facilitate worship activities as appropriate.
- Provide support for staff within the scope of this position.
- Liaise with those responsible for co-ordinating the Pastoral and Spiritual Care Services at each hospital to identify other internal and external services that might support the quality of life of patients, their carers, families and staff as appropriate.
- Develop a volunteer base that strengthens the capacity to provide pastoral and spiritual care at the Gold Coast Hospitals and the community.
- Liaise with clergy and pastoral carers of other denominations or religious and ethnic groups.
- Build relationships with local ministers and congregations, particularly those of the UCA.
- Undertake other duties as requested/directed by the Church or Hospital Chaplaincy Coordinators (consistent with the above, within the scope of the position, any applicable Duties List, and any other legal or industrial obligations).

This position would be particularly suitable for a person with the following qualifications:

- Clinical Pastoral Education, Certificate IV in Pastoral Care and Chaplaincy or equivalent qualification from a recognised tertiary institution.
- Recognised theological training.
