Sydney, Australia Susquehanna International Group Full time

The Quantitative Research team at SIG works with traders and software engineers in the development, testing, and implementation of pricing models and technical tools. As precise indicators of any security's "true" value, these highly complex models are the roadmap for SIG's daily trading activities. Located in our Sydney office, this role will provide you with the opportunity to work closely with traders and the firm’s top technologists. Since its inception in 1987, the Susquehanna International Group of Companies (SIG) has grown from a trading firm on the Philadelphia Stock Exchange to one of the largest privately held financial institutions in the world. With more than 1,500 employees worldwide, SIG sits at the helm of the latest trends and developments in trading and market making, institutional sales, research, private equity, venture capital, and investment banking. SIG has offices across North America, Europe, Asia, and Australia. SIG is a market leader and understands the importance of technology to its business. Trading is a race, and the fastest and smartest system wins. Building these systems involves some of the most demanding performance challenges in any industry and we’re willing to use any technologies that will give us an edge. **What we're looking for**- Strong programming skills (essential). Not necessarily a total gun in any one language - in fact the most useful would probably be a "jack of all trades" with experience in a variety of languages/environments and able to pick up new languages quickly. - We'd expect at least some of the following: C/C++, python, Mathematica, Matlab, R, Fortran, S-Plus, SQL, Perl. Also useful would be experience using the unix command line. - Good background in math, at least a solid undergraduate degree in physics/maths/engineering. The more applied types of mathematics are more useful for our type of work. - Some experience with statistics would be very handy, but doesn't need to be too advanced. Ideally, a postgraduate research qualification in a quantitative discipline - particularly if their background includes a finance-related degree. - General problem-solving skills: able to think logically and critically with unfamiliar problems.
