In 2021 Bupa is proud to have expanded our Health Services contract with the Australian Defence Force to the provision of services to the Department of Veterans’ Affairs (DVA).
The Department of Veterans’ Affairs is an Australian Government organisation that supports those who serve or have served in the defence of our nation and commemorate their service and sacrifice. Our role is to support the Department of Veterans’ Affairs (DVA) to meet the Nation’s commitment to care for our veteran and defence service community - the men and women who have served Australia in times of war and conflict as well as peacetime.
As part of Bupa’s service offering, Bupa assists the Department of Veterans’ Affairs by providing high-quality clinical advice.
**About the role**
In this unique Nursing Adviser role, you will provide clinical advice to DVA business areas to enable them to assist clients and client families/advocates, including:
- Providing recommendation and input to clinical enquiries received from treating health providers, including community nursing providers and other nursing queries.
- Providing clinical recommendation and nursing input to complaints/ clinical incidents received across the Department.
- Providing advice on complex clients’ who may require clinical nursing care.
- Attendance and clinical support for veterans at commemorative events.
- Wound Management
- Palliative Care
Undertake specific tasks in relation to the Community Nursing (CN) Program, including:
- Reviewing and providing clinical input on CN provider competency concerns noted by DVA quality management processes.
- Providing clinical recommendation and input to notes for CN Providers.
- Providing clinical recommendation and input to communications materials such as Bulletins, CN provider resources, and other clinically based/related CN operational documentation (Eg; Online forms)
- Providing clinical recommendation and advice regarding clinical provider education.
- Undertaking clinical audits of CN providers
- Participate in ongoing education and quality improvement activities, as required.
- Undertake other clinical advice and quality assurance activities, as required.
**About you**
We’re looking for Nurses keen to move into a role without direct patient contact within a multidisciplinary team working from one of the DVA Head Offices in Adelaide. This role is a permanent part time arrangement, providing a minimum of 2 days per week.
**Please note: You must be an Australian citizen and be able to attain and maintain a baseline security clearance from the Defence security and vetting service.**
We’re looking for someone who has:
- Relevant tertiary qualifications
- Unrestricted AHPRA registration
- At least 10 years current clinical experience as a registered nurse across multiple disciplinaries.
- Contemporary knowledge and skills in chronic complex wound care
- Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with both clinical and non-clinical professionals.
- Demonstrated sensitivity and judgement in dealing with client related issues.
- Demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively as a productive team member.
- You must be an Australian citizen and be able to attain and maintain a baseline security clearance from the Defence security and vetting service.
