Specialist Disability Support Worker (Psychosocial & Mental Health) - Empower an Adult to Thrive

Join our team at Thrive360 Care and make a profound difference in the life of an adult client. We're seeking an empathetic and experienced individual to provide essential, recovery-oriented support.

**This is a targeted recruitment specifically looking for a Disability Support Worker with demonstrated experience and a passion for supporting adults with psychosocial disabilities and mental health diagnoses. You must be available at least 32 hours per week. Location is Glenfield, NSW.**

**What you'll do**:

- **Person-Centred & Recovery-Oriented Support**: Work collaboratively with the client, fostering a trusting and respectful relationship, and supporting their journey towards well-being, independence, and personal recovery goals.
- **Promote Mental Wellbeing & Coping Strategies**: Provide empathetic support, assist the client in developing and utilising coping mechanisms, and promote a positive sense of self.
- **Support with Daily Living & Goal Achievement**: Assist and encourage the client with daily activities, personal goals, and skill development in line with their individual support plan and NDIS goals, taking into account their mental health needs.
- **Create a Safe, Understanding & Enabling Environment**: Foster a supportive atmosphere where the client feels safe, heard, understood, and empowered to make choices and pursue their interests.
- **Community Connection & Participation**: Support the client to engage in meaningful community activities, build social connections, and access services that enhance their quality of life and mental wellbeing.
- **Implement & Monitor Support Plans**: Effectively follow, contribute to, and monitor the individualised support plan, liaising with the care team regarding progress and any changes in needs.
- **De-escalation and Crisis Support (if required)**: Utilise your skills to support the client calmly and effectively during times of distress, following established protocols.

**What we're looking for**:

- **Minimum experience**:Minimum 3 years experience working in residential care settings.
- **Relevant Qualifications**: A Diploma/ Certificate in Mental Health, Diploma/Certificate in Disability, Individual Support, Community Services, or equivalent. (A Mental Health specific qualification is highly regarded).
- **Essential Experience**: Demonstrated experience supporting adults with psychosocial disabilities and significant mental health diagnoses. This includes understanding recovery principles and trauma-informed care.
- **Specialist Skills**: Proven ability in providing emotional support, implementing positive behaviour support strategies, and supporting individuals to manage their mental health effectively.
- **Empathy, Patience & Resilience**: A deep sense of compassion, understanding, patience, and the resilience required to support individuals through complex challenges.
- **Strong Communication & Interpersonal Skills**: The ability to communicate effectively, build rapport, and engage respectfully with the client, their support network, and colleagues.
- **Reliability and Punctuality**: A commitment to the specified working hours.
