**Position Information**:
Bonnells Bay Public School is located on Awabakal land on the western edge of Lake Macquarie NSW and has a student enrolment of 403. Of these students, 20% identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islanders and 5% are from language backgrounds other than English. The school has 16 mainstream classes and three support classes and is dedicated to maximising student outcomes through quality teaching and learning. The school culture is that of inclusion and belonging with students, staff, parents and the wider community working together to promote school excellence. The Western Shores Learning Alliance (WSLA) provides opportunities for students and staff to collaborate in a variety of activities beyond the school community. The school has an active P&C who support students and the school through a variety of fundraising activities. Extra-curricular opportunities in sport, technology, and creative arts, enable our students to excel through a range of different experiences.

**Selection Criteria**:
In addition to the general selection criteria,

1. Approval to teach Special Education and/or demonstrated extensive experience using evidence based practices to teach, support and care for students with complex learning needs in a support class, including those with Autism, mild to moderate intellectual disability, challenging behaviours and mental health needs. This includes the capacity to effectively manage the dual roles of exemplary classroom teacher and Assistant Principal.
- Ability to lead and implement high-quality differentiated curriculum and personal learning and support plans to promote continuous growth for the social, emotional, behavioural and academic learning needs of students.
- Knowledge of and successful experience implementing evidence -based wellbeing support systems and/or programs with the capacity to lead the implementation of same and manage student wellbeing and behaviour across the three support unit classes.

Demonstrate capacity to work as a dynamic member of the school leadership team to foster school wide practices of inclusion and equity with an approachable and proactive leadership style, strong communication skills and the ability to engage and inspire students, families, external agencies, staff and the wider community.

**General Selection Criteria**:
1. Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice
2. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs
3. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams
4. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents
5. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning
6. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policies
