OVERALL PURPOSE OF THE JOB
- This is a role within GE Linehaul and is critical to realising a structured and disciplined approach to delivering operational and financial performance of the States’ intra and inter linehaul networks, whilst ensuring safety, compliance and service delivery to customer requirements (DIFOT).- Develop and execute the “perfect Linehaul transaction” across a 1-2 year horizon, which delivers year on year (YOY) cost and operational efficiencies and performance across GE Linehaul for all customers, without compromising on safety, compliance or service.- Lead and develop their teams to create a structured and disciplined approach to operationalising plans, ensuring deviations or service disruptions are identified, managed and controlled. Their leadership will enable an adaptable and agile proactive approach to driving the integration of new cost saving opportunities ensuring the right processes, right people and right behaviours underpin a national standardised ‘new way of work’.- Embed the right behaviours to streamline service delivery enabling network optimisation, through role clarity, accountability, performance measurement and activities that enable transparency and fosters a culture of trust by ‘doing what we say’. The role will act to provide the leadership direction, identification and training to address skill gaps in operations and technology to ensure capability uplift, to realise the commercial benefits of the Linehaul Operating model.- Responsible for structured, disciplined and measurable end to end processes, commencing with business plans, YOY cost and efficiency performance improvements, business readiness for implementation of technology solutions and identify new and existing opportunities, taking action to maximise profitability and minimise cost across their state’s operations- Work closely with the Control Room to ensure thoughtful integration of an effective centralisation of planning, scheduling and monitoring services are embedded nationally implementing a standard, reliable and trusted ‘way of work’ across the national network.- Develop key stakeholder relationships with critical local representatives at state level with associated unions and contractors ensuring market intel is gathered to assist with business decisions and driver engagement is maintained as a priority.- Facilitate a proactive approach to operational and cost-efficient service delivery with a strong sense of urgency, ensuring prioritisation of high benefit savings initiatives are realised and embedded in a timely and cost-effective manner.
- ACCOUNTABILITIES- Develop, socialise and execute an operational business plan based on GE Linehaul strategy to reflect a 1-2 year horizon to successfully deliver business goals;- Drive operational service effectiveness of DIFOT ensuring departure and arrival issues are identified, investigated and continuous improvement opportunities implemented and embedded;- Understand and take action to maximise profitability and minimise cost across all State Operations including the identification of initiative opportunities;- Drive cost efficient operations through innovative resource utilisation (fleet, drivers, dry hire);- Actively provide input, review and response to seasonal planning forecasts to ensure your states’ resources (drivers, fleet) are optimised- Create transparency through accurate and reliable asset (driver, prime mover, trailers, dry hire, dolly) availability data across the states;- Identify and drive critical team member capability uplift (in partnership with HR) requirements to ensure team members are equipped and empowered to make the right decisions (technology, business finance, commercial impact and measurement);- Identify business efficiency and cost initiatives to deliver YOY cost savings;- Identify potential new business opportunities to capitalise on current operational footprint and activities;- Collaborate with peers nationally and lead the Road Express and Palletised Express teams in creating a disciplined and structured approach to streamlined and robust processes and embracing technological solutions to ensure a national standardised and reproducible ‘way of work’ across the network;- Drive structured and transparent accountability across the team with clear role clarity and performance measurement;- Provide accurate and timely reporting of measurement against KPIs and cost saving initiative projects (timeliness, cost and quality);- Coach and mentor the Operations teams, to deliver a streamlined, repeatable and efficient operating model for service delivery;- Using strong stakeholder engagement skills, maintain and build local relationships with unions, Depot Managers and contractors to ensure market intel and driver engagement is optimised;- Support and sponsor the implementation and change projects to embed technology solutions, operational and cost saving initiatives;- Demonstrate critical behaviours t
