Work within a large scale agency at the forefront of an exciting project being delivered by one of the largest Federal Government Departments. The role sits within the ICT Services Branch of the Agency.
**Your new role**
The Accessible Technology Specialist role sits within the Accessibility Support Team, a function of the Desktop Services Directorate, responsible for conducting design, development, implementation and support of the Agency’s ICT services to ensure accessibility and compatibility with Assistive Technology (AT). The team works closely with other service owners and the broader Agency to develop, configure, maintain, support and optimise all new and existing Assistive Technology solutions.
The position will exercise a considerable degree of independence to engage in complex problem solving and issues management within the functions. The position will exercise sound decision-making and judgement to provide advice and operational support.
Responsibilities may include but are not limited to:
- Liaise with current and prospective employees, People and Culture, and the broader Office of the Chief Information Officer, to implement ICT related reasonable adjustments.
- Providing ICT advice, support, and basic training in using agency systems with approved AT software and hardware, as a Level 2 function of the agency ICT Service Desk.
- Developing and maintaining high quality records including but not limited to Service Desk interactions, technical designs, operating procedures and reports.
- Investigating complex technical issues assigned to the team and engaging others (including third party vendors) to assist in addressing problems.
- Testing and evaluating AT compatibility with new products and functions, providing advice and feedback to relevant business areas to ensure accessibility.
**What you'll need to succeed**
- Demonstrated experience delivering ICT support services, with knowledge in Microsoft Windows 10 and Microsoft 365 (including Microsoft Office and other cloud services).
- Demonstrated experience providing configuration and ongoing support for Assistive Technology software and hardware solutions.
- Experience working in Government or providing services to Government agencies.
- Demonstrated a strong commitment to meeting agreed work targets and standards.
- Demonstrated high level conceptual, analytical, and problem-solving skills, and the ability to develop creative and innovative solutions to difficult and complex problems.
- Proven experience producing a range of documentation from simple work instructions to business proposals (outlining requirements and implementation strategies).
- Knowledge or experience working in an ICT service desk environment
- Knowledge and understanding of Australian accessibility standards and guidelines
