Opal is seeking an experienced Mechanical Services Superintendent based at the Maryvale Mill in the Latrobe Valley, Victoria. The role will oversee Team Leaders & tradespeople in the overhaul of mechanical equipment including Pumps, Gearboxes, Rolls, & the maintenance of heavy mobile equipment in a garage. The role will liaise with contractors, external suppliers & internal stakeholders in Production & Maintenance. It reports to the Manager Delivery Systems.

You will contribute to the success of Opal by:

- Promote and ensure safe work procedures for maintenance jobs
- Develop a necessary Maintenance Program for mechanical systems
- Maintenance strategy development for mechanical equipment and feed this into mill wide Maintenance Strategy Development plans and systems
- Organizing and planning of urgent maintenance jobs
- Create required job packs and source parts and equipment for urgent maintenance work
- Knowledge & practical experience in using CMMS (Computerised Maintenance Management Systems)
- Approve specialist contractor usage and quotes for PO based on approval level
- Approve purchase request and invoices within expense approval level
- Organise, monitor, progress, and supervise daily maintenance work
- Overall cost awareness of the area maintenance budget
- Follow up daily and weekly progress of maintenance works
- Ensuring all maintenance work orders are completed as scheduled

Specifically for this role, we expect you will have;
- Relevant Trade or Tertiary qualification in Engineering
- Post graduate studies in Maintenance Management
- Diploma of Frontline Management
- Minimum of 5 years in a maintenance or maintenance support role in a similar heavy industry
- Strong knowledge of statutory requirements for relevant trade
- Minimum of 2 years frontline management experience
- Experience in using CMMS Systems
- Experience in using SAP
