The Principal Cultural Capability Officer key responsibilities are:

- Develop and provide practice advice on emerging opportunities and issues, and maintain a comprehensive overview on current reforms, developments and strategies impacting the department's commitments to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. Liaise and consult internal and external stakeholders to provide evidence-based advice and support to develop strategic practical solutions to assist the front-line youth justice service centres to deliver positive outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people and their families and reduce disproportionate representation. Support the implementation of cultural capability across the region and oversight the operation of the First Nations Action Governance Group within the region. Prepare high level advice on current practice, relevant policy implications, legislation and programs and the preparation of a range of written material including, executive correspondence, briefing material and information papers in relation to service delivery of youth justice services. Lead, coordinate, plan, implement and monitor progress of regional projects within tight timeframes to achieve desired outcomes. Work within a team environment to support the priorities of the region and contribute to the promotion of an accountable and equitable work environment as delegated by the Manager/Regional Director.
